Empower Housing Association: Regulatory Notice

Updated: September 2021

Further to the regulatory engagement of Empower Housing Association with the Regulator of Social Housing, the Association has been issued with a Regulatory Notice. This sets out a number of areas of non-compliance with the Regulator’s Governance and Financial Viability Standard and the need to provide further assurance in relation to compliance with the Rent Standard and Specialised Supported Housing exemptions.

Les Paul, Chair of Empower said, “The current board of Empower acknowledges the serious nature of the issues set out in the Regulatory Notice and has taken positive and proactive steps to agree a plan of action, with appropriate specialist support to address the areas of non-compliance. We are working co-operatively and collaboratively with the regulator and are committed to achieving full compliance with the Regulatory Standards whilst also maintaining the good standard of frontline and operational services delivered by the Association.”

Empower HA has commenced a process to deliver a comprehensive action plan and will be appointing several new board members in the coming weeks to provide the skills and oversight required to implement and embed improved controls and governance processes.
