Regulator of Social Housing – Removal of Regulatory Notice

Empower Housing Association is pleased to report that following a period of detailed working with the Regulator of Social Housing, it has now been confirmed as compliant with the Regulatory Standards.

This follows the publication of a Regulatory Notice in September 2021 that set out a number of areas that required improvement to achieve compliance with the Regulator’s Governance and Financial Viability Standard and the provision of further assurance in relation to compliance with the Rent Standard.

Empower appointed a new Board in October 2021 and agreed a Voluntary Undertaking to deliver a comprehensive action plan, working closely with the Regulator to address all aspects of regulatory compliance. Empower has been supported by DTP throughout the process.

Mark Dunford Chair of the Board said “I am delighted that the Regulator has agreed to remove the Regulatory Notice from Empower. The Board and colleagues have worked diligently to meet the Regulatory Standards and ensure these practices are part of our culture going forwards. The Board wishes to acknowledge the support received from the Regulator, specialist advisers DTP, our stakeholders and partners, and all colleagues at Empower during this period.”

Sara Sharrock CEO said “It is a great achievement for Empower to be classed as compliant with the Regulatory Standards. Our colleagues and Board are skilled and passionate and have been totally dedicated to implementing the agreed action plan to ensure we meet the Regulatory Standards whilst continuing to provide safe & suitable homes for our tenants. As a team we are fully committed to the continued compliance and future growth of Empower.”
